The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies and the Center for Development Studies cordially invite you to attend a lecture entitled:

Beyond Alienation: Capitalism, Structural Genocide and the Search for Social Justice

by Garry Leech and Terry Gibbs from Cape Breton University,Where they will discuss how the nature of contemporary capitalism inherently generates inequality and structural violence.

given that more than 10 million people a year needlessly die under the capitalist system, Leech argues that global capitalism constitutes a form of genocide. Within this framework, Terry Gibbs will explore how a shift in values both at the level of individual consciousness and at a structural level will be required to move towards a more sustainable and socially just world.

The lecture will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 10:00 AM at hall 316 at Sa’id Khoury Building for Development Studies – Birzeit University.
