Economic Growth and Development under Conditions of Stress Agricultural

Nasser Ali

Uncertainty and lack of stability are main constraints in the path of development in Palestine. This study examines the effects of twenty-seven years of Israeli occupation (1967-1994) on the Palestinian economy in the occupied territories, using data from the Israeli Statistics Centre. Palestinian economy was heavily impacted by arbitrary policies and measures imposed by the Israeli military occupation, that not only stunted the process of development, but drove it backwards while blocking any prospects for future development, particularly in the agricultural sector. The study also examines the Palestinian-Israeli Economic Protocols.
