The Center for Development Studies and the Master’s Programs in Community Development at Birzeit University, in cooperation with Master’s students in Community Development, held a talk titled “Palestinian Civil Society Organizations in the Shadow of Genocide – A Changing Map and a Steady Compass” on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The talk is part of the CDS Talk Series and included the guest speakers, Amal Khreisheh, Director of the Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development, and political and community activist Omar Assaf. The speakers addressed the historical experience of Palestinian civil society and the importance of learning from this historical experience towards the current reality and the genocidal war against the Palestinian people. The discussion focused on the actual and potential roles of civil society organizations and the shortcomings in community work and political action in relation to the challenges of the current period.
