CDS Research Ethics Committee

The Research Ethics Committee of the Center for Development Studies was formed in 2025 and operates within Birzeit University’s ethical review guidelines. It is authorized to review, approve, and reject research projects and proposals from an ethical perspectives in terms of their adherence to
Birzeit University’s ethical guidelines. Moreover, it also reviews research projects and proposals in relation to the evolving discussion on research ethics in the Center for Development Studies and the evolving discussion on ethical issues in the field of Development Studies in Palestine.

The committee is composed of a number of experts and conducts independent reviews of research projects and proposals.

The CDS research ethics committee is a Unit Research Ethics Review Committee (URERC) operating within the framework of Birzeit University’s ethical guidelines.
